With London’s own rocking Sarah Smith and singer, guitarist, songwriter and storyteller Claire Danaher, Stage for Change returns to Aeolian Hall September 28.

The mission of Stage for Change is to create awareness around addiction. Together we can create a community that is supportive and challenges the stigmatization of addiction. We can work together and create an opening for positive change and conversation about addiction and recovery. With power in numbers, we can work collectively toward understanding the challenges and support those in the journey of recovery.

With five years of successful events under wraps, Stage for Change returns in full force in 2017 for a sixth London event as well as events in Woodstock (September 22) and St. Thomas (November). Having grown from a small gathering in a downtown parking lot to three live concerts across the Thames Valley region, the influence of Stage for Change is expanding.

Rik Emmett gained international recognition as the lead singer/songwriter/guitarist with Triumph.  The adjectives ‘prolific’ and ‘eclectic’ frequently pop up in Rik’s profiles, after five decades in the biz.  Following over a dozen platinum albums from his Triumph years, he produced 19 more as an indie, ranging from rock to blues to jazz to folk to classical.  International notoriety earned him entry into three Canadian Halls of Fame, a star on the Walk of Fame in his hometown of Mississauga, and he picked up a few ‘Best Guitarist’ awards in various style categories from different organizations along the way.  Author of a GUITAR PLAYER magazine column for over a dozen years, the resulting compilation instruction book, “For The Love of Guitar”, recently landed at #4 in Shawn Persinger’s review of “The 50 Greatest Guitar Books”.  As a music educator, Mr. E. remains humbly proud of his long-standing inclusion on the heavily-respected Humber College faculty, where he’s taught Songwriting, Music Business and Directed Studies;  and he’s also been Artistic Director of the Songstudio Songwriting Workshop every summer for the past 12 years.  This show will be an acoustic duo performance with Dave Dunlop.

Mission: The Pride London Men’s Chorus is the brainchild of Rod Culham in collaboration with Clark Bryan.  Many individuals from within and outside of the Gay, Bi-Sexual and Trans-gendered communities, support the choir.  The aim of PMCL is to continue the battle to erase discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identification.  It will also aim to build a bridge to the greater global community.

Myles Goodwyn (born in Woodstock, New Brunswick) is a record producer, guitarist, lead vocalist, main songwriter, painter and founding  member of the veteran Canadian rock band April Wine. As the longest serving and only original member, he has led the band from its modest garage band roots (in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1969) to multi-platinum sales exceeding 20 million records worldwide. He continues to lead the band to the present day.

In 2003 Myles Goodwyn received an ECMA Lifetime Achievement Award for his impact on the music industry of Atlantic Canada. Goodwyn has also received numerous writing and publishing awards internationally including the prestigious Socan Classic Award for more than 1,000,000 airplays. In 2009 he and April Wine won the coveted Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Award. In 2010, he and his group were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Myles Goodwyn & Friends of the Blues, his second solo effort, is an all-blues album featuring a slew of guest performers that include Amos Garrett, David Wilcox, Frank Marino, Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne, and Rick Derringer. The album is slated for release in the Spring of 2015. Goodwyn is presently finishing his memoirs, Just Between You and Me, with acclaimed Canadian music industry author Martin Melhuish. The book will be published in the fall of 2016. Goodwyn’s first fictional novel, Elvis and Tiger, will be released in 2015.

For nearly a decade Goodwyn has actively supported and raised funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Goodwyn is the founder of the charitable foundation, Soleful Caring … Shoes for the Homeless, est. 2014. Goodwyn presently lives on a country estate outside of Montreal, Quebec.
