Marc was born in Brooklyn, NY, son of singer Charles Jordan, and grew up in Toronto, Canada. Jordan’s music career really took off in 1978 when he was signed to Warner Music in Los Angeles and began writing songs for and with the likes of Diana Ross, Chicago, Kansas, Manhattan Transfer, Kenny Loggins, Bette Midler, Natalie Cole, Olivia Newton John, Joe Cocker, Bonnie Raitt, Josh Groban, Cher and Rod Stewart, including the world wide #1 hit “Rhythm of My Heart.” Jordan has won numerous ASCAP, JUNO, SOCAN and Smooth Jazz awards over the years.

His songs have been on 35 million CDs and he has recorded 16 albums of his own material. In his forty plus year career he has been a hit solo artist (‘Marina Del Rey’, ‘Survival’), a sought-after songwriter, and in the last decade, he took up a paintbrush and became an amazing visual artist.

With his most recent album release of Both Sides in April 2019, Jordan finally explored his love of the great American songbook by recording some of his favorite hits from the mid 20th century. Carefully crafted and recorded with the Prague Symphony, Jordan put his own modern spin on classics like “The Nearness of You” and “What Are You Doing For the Rest of Your Life”, along with Joni Mitchel's “Both Sides Now” and Lou Reid’s masterpiece “Walk on the Wild Side”. Regarding the album, Jeff Moses of WJMX Smooth Jazz Boston Global Radio praised, “Smooth vocals above perfect covers. Wow! This is a world-class masterpiece album.”

Currently, Marc Jordan and his wife Amy Sky are spending more time writing and recording in Nashville, TN and plan to release a new album in 2020. Trends come and go, but for an artist of Marc’s breadth, marrying his talent with inspiration has never been an issue. There’s always been a project in the headlights for Jordan, ”My passion for music and for songwriting is deeper and more profound now than ever before in my life. And so, I go to my studio, put my headphones on every day, seven days a week, and I write.”

With a career spanning more than 25 years, Mark is at home performing at the highest level in literally every musical genre. He is currently the resident Music Director for the Victoria Playhouse in Petrolia. As a performer, his critically acclaimed one-man shows, “Simply Grand” and most recently, “I Love A Piano” have played consistently to sold out audiences. The depth of his abilities as a tenor soloist and musician – (piano, keyboards, accordion, harmonica, guitar, trumpet) only enhances the depth of his abilities as a music director, arranger, conductor, opera vocal coach, and adjudicator. His uncanny ability to effortlessly adapt to different genres of music and styles, ranging from Broadway to classical to country to rock to jazz standards and everything in between, has afforded him the myriad of opportunities he has enjoyed throughout his career.

Mark has also performed as soloist with professional orchestras, both as a pianist, conductor and singer, and has performed great piano works, including Rachmaninoff’s 2nd piano concerto, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, and Beethoven’s 1st Piano Concerto with professional orchestras. In addition, he has worked with major north American opera houses (San Francisco Opera, Pacific Opera Victoria, Calgary, City Opera) as vocal coach, conductor and repetiteur. He has recorded multiple CDs, including “Simply Grand” and his most recent work, “Reflections”.

Billy Newton-Davis grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and as a teenager he was one of two lead singers in a local soul band called “The Illusions”.

He received his  Bachelor Of Fine Arts Degree from Ohio University and upon graduation moved to New York to pursue his dreams on Broadway. He appeared in several Broadway shows including “Bubblin Brown Sugar”, “Eubie”, “Got Tu Go Disco”, and “Stop The World”, starring Sammy Davis Jr. His debut singing gig, in 1973, was as a backing vocalist to Gloria Gaynor, and in 1989 he released “Can’t Live with You, Can’t Live Without You,” a duet with Céline Dion.

A formidable presence in the Canadian music industry, Billy received Junos for best R&B/soul recording for his first two albums "Love Is a Contact Sport" (1986) and "Spellbound" (1989), and more recently a Juno for best dance recording of the year for his work with deadmau5 on “All U Ever Want.” Billy is featured on releases by The Boomtang Boys, Nino Anthony, and MelleeFresh. From 1991-93, he was a member of Canadian super singing group, The Nylons.

In Toronto, Billy has become a favourite performer for philanthropic and corporate events, and regularly appears in the city's best live venues performing jazz, gospel and R&B.  For decades, Billy has been lending his voice as an activist for HIV/AIDS awareness and the ongoing fight for equality.

Billy's latest EP, released in 2020 is a jazzy, bluesy, gospelicious offering recorded live-off-the-floor and features some of his favourite classics from the great American songbook

Rick has been working as an independent music & theatre professional in various capacities since proudly graduating with his BFA from the University of Windsor’s, School of Dramatic Art. Rick received his Masters degree from UWO's, Don Wright Faculty of Music in Literature & Performance with a focus in Music Theatre. He is a member in good standing of Canadian Actor’s Equity Association (CAEA). In 2020 Rick was nominated 2020 Jazz Vocalist of this year - the same award he  received in 2019 (Jazz Vocalist of the Year Award) through the Forest City London Music Awards (FCLMA). Several projects he's led have received Brickenden Awards - Vigil, Saucy Jack & The Space Vixens & The Secret Garden. Fringe Festival Awards include JUDY: Stonewalled!, Saucy Jack & The Space Vixens. Rick is the Artistic Director of LINK theatre which began in December of 2015 with a really Retro CROONER Christmas. The show has become an annual production. In 2019 the show toured the Province of Ontario. The Crooners visited Huron Country Playhouse, Drayton Festival Theatre, Meaford Performing Arts, to name a few… In 2020, due to Covid, they had only two live performances - December 5th and 12th at Paradigm Spirits at 100 Kellogg Lane – a stripped down version of the show, An Intimate Crooner Christmas (Check out LINK theatre's page for information - www.linktheatre.ca). In 2017 LINK staged the OUTRAGEOUS musical comedy Saucy Jack & The Space Vixens. Due to being wildly popular with audiences, it was remounted in 2018... Both productions were presented in The TABU Lounge at Jack's on Richmond Street in London.

In the past several years Rick has been very involved in many youth mentorship initiatives at the Grand Theatre in London. For 10 years Rick worked as Vocal/Singing Coach on The Highschool Project; Les Miserables (2016), Hello Dolly, The Addams Family: A New Musical, Legally Blonde, My Fair Lady, Footloose, Anything Goes, Grease, The Pirates of Penzance & Les Miserables (2007). As well as ongoing work with The Grand Academy as the acting coach & voice through Broadway Songs instructor.

For the past several years now, Rick has been adjudicating with the RISE 2 FAME Youth Talent Search with contestants from across Southwestern Ontario. He has taught acting at both Fanshawe College in the Acting Program as well as UWO's Continuing Studies and the Don Wright Faculty of Music Master's Program.

Denise has performed with many great artists including acclaimed trombonist Ray Anderson, Gospel/Blues legend Jackie Richardson and Flamenco guitarist Jesse Cook.  She has opened for Aretha Franklin at the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario.

Denise has performed with symphony orchestras and festivals which have included the du Maurier Downtown Jazz Festival (Toronto), Ottawa Jazz Festival, The Royal Canadian Big Band Festival (London), Bluesfest (London), Waterloo Jazz Festival and Sunfest (London), among others.

Denise also enjoys acting and has been part of The Grand Theatre (London) seasons performing in the Fats Waller musical Ain’t Misbehavin’, Wang Dang Doodle with Denis Simpson and A Streetcar Named Desire.  Denise’s one-woman show, Jazzabel premiered in September 2004 at the McManus Theatre (Grand Theatre), London, Ontario to sold out audiences!  In October 2005 Jazzabel was performed in Washington, DC at the National Museum for Women in the Arts and in February 2006 to audiences in New York City at Urban Stages Theatre.  As well, she was premiered in the February 2006 issue of O (Oprah Winfrey) Magazine.  Denise’s recording credits include seven CD’s.

She is honoured with being the recipient of the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee Medals.  In 2003 she was named a YM-YWCA Woman of Distinction in the Arts and Heritage category.  Denise won best jazz artist in London, Ontario’s Music Awards in 2002, 2003, 2006 and 2008, 2009, and 2012.  In April 2006 the Hyde Park Rotary presented her with the Paul Harris Fellowship Award, Rotary’s highest honour.   In 2008 and 2014 she won Jazz Artist of the Year at the Jack Richardson awards.  In February 2009 the London Black History Committee honoured Denise with the Black Community Achievement Award in recognition of her accomplishments, contributions and support to her community.  In April 2015 she was inducted into the London Music Hall of Fame.  In November 2015 Denise received a honourary licentiate diploma from Conservatory Canada.

Denise is a volunteer with Canadian Aid for Southern Sudan traveling annually since 2007 where she helps to deliver a music and art camp for the children.  She is also a board member with Educate the Children helping to raise funds for a school in Nigeria

Alex Baerg is a singer, guitarist, pianist, and performer from London, ON, best known for his work at the Victoria Playhouse in Petrolia. Alex has spent his career paying tribute to the greatest singer songwriters of all time; Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, James Taylor, Neil Young, Carole King, John Denver, and more. Alex brings an intimacy and conversational care to his performances, and sings the songs of these classic artists as though they’re being sung for the first time again. Vocalist Paul Marinaro, dubbed as having “one of the most beautiful vocal instruments in the business today” by Howard Reich of the Chicago Tribune, is a modern classic. With Chicago as his home base, Paul has become one of the most in-demand and respected male vocalists and has “taken his place among the top five male jazz singers active today.” (Scott Yanow, LA Jazz Scene)

Paul demonstrates a mastery of and an infectious passion for the material he chooses, allowing him to successfully command audiences with his fresh interpretations. At home, he is currently enjoying sold-out engagements in Chicago’s world-famous venues, including Joe and Wayne Segal’s Jazz Showcase, The Green Mill, Andy’s Jazz Club, and at Winter’s Jazz Club where he is currently in residence. He has been a featured performer at The Chicago Jazz Festival in 2014 and again in 2017 for an audience of 10,000 on the stage at the massive Pritzger Pavilion, where his performance with jazz legend Sheila Jordan earned rave reviews and was named “Best of 2017” (Chicago Tribune). He has earned “Best Performance of the Year” in the Chicago Tribune in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018; and “Best of Chicago 2015” in NewCity Magazine.

In 2013, Paul celebrated his widely acclaimed debut album Without a Song, a carefully crafted concept album stemming from and inspired by his father’s unfulfilled dream to have been a professional singer. For this album, Paul incorporated the beginnings of his love affair with music, when at the age of five, he found his father’s homemade 78rpm acetate discs in the attic, heard him singing “That Old Black Magic”, and was mesmerized. This scratchy recording of his father’s voice was Paul’s first musical inspiration…and it was restored and used to open his debut album 66 years later. Without a Song has gone on to receive widespread acclaim and national airplay, was named among the “Best of 2013” in the Chicago Tribune and has been prominently featured on NYC DJ Jonathan Schwartz’s “The Jonathan Channel”. Now in its third pressing, the album was re-issued in late 2015 as a deluxe, limited-edition, audiophile 2 LP Vinyl set. The album and its story went on to inspire acclaimed choreographer, Ron De Jesus, who premiered his original dance suite “Without a Song: Mic Check 1, 2” in April 2014, with Paul and his quartet performing the music live. Released in October, 2015, his first live album, One Night in Chicago, has also been critically acclaimed, being called “…a shining example of male jazz vocal at the top of its game.” (Midwest Record).

Since 2016, Paul has grown in national visibility and acclaim. He has enjoyed many highly regarded debuts across the US and Canada, including regular appearances at Toronto’s Jazz Bistro, and most notably at the world-famous Birdland Jazz Club in NYC, where Paul performed to sold out and enthusiastic crowds. In Chicago, at the stunning Auditorium Theatre, Paul appeared in an all-star celebration of Cole Porter in 2016, and of Ella Fitzgerald and Lena Horne in 2017, and an upcoming Stephen Sondheim program in 2019.

Paul is also a featured vocalist with The Chicago Jazz Orchestra, appearing in many festivals and concerts, including a recreation of the live album “Sinatra at the Sands” at the historic Studebaker Theater in May 2018 for which he received rave reviews, again earning the “Best of the Year” distinction in the Chicago Tribune.

For his July 2018 birthday concert, Paul returned to Birdland Jazz Club featuring special guest Sheila Jordan. The duo immediately demonstrated an uncanny and effortless rapport with one another and have several concerts scheduled together in 2019. Paul has also been chosen to be the sole vocalist in “The Oscar Peterson Story” at Jazz at Lincoln Center in Feb 2019 and will also be actively touring throughout 2019 for various Nat King Cole Centennial concerts, including appearances in Barbados and Copenhagen.

When he is not performing live, he will be busy in the studio recording his next album.

Jenny, Ron and Theresa with now-retired member Dave Williams had a long successful run as Take 4, our own locally grown close-harmony jazz quartet.  They released three CDs;  After Four and More,  After Four…Takes Five, and An After Four Christmas.  They have worked with Canadian legends Peter Appleyard, Phil Nimmons and Juno award-winning producer Kevin Doyle and performed with many local jazz & classical musicians in South Western Ontario.

Take 3 captures much of the enthusiasm and vocal range of the larger group; still focusing on high quality harmonic vocals with their own arrangements.  Plans for a new disc for Take 3 & Company are underway.

Supporting Take 3 in this program are; Ms. Jennifer Lee on back-up vocals and flute; Larry Ernewein on double bass and drummer / percussionist Greg Mainprize.

Burt Bacharach, a major American composer, songwriter, record producer, pianist, and singer has composed hundreds of popular hit songs from the late 1950s through the 1980s, many in collaboration with popular lyricist Hal David and sung by Dionne Warwick.

 

Included in this program are many of Burt's biggest hits; Walk On By, You'll Never Get To Heaven, Alfie, One Less Bell To Answer, I'll Never Fall In Love Again, Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on my Head, I Say and Little Prayer  and more.

This concert will take you back to the greatest music of the 60s and 70s.  Settle back in your chair and let Take 3 take you away...
