Aeolian Pride Choruses are proud to present a program of reflection and celebration leading into the Holiday Season.

This is a special year for the choir as we’ve opened it up to include all voices!

World AIDS day is December 1st and we reflect on lives lost and battles won.  At this time of global instability and erosion of 2SLGBTQ+AI rights in many part of the world, we want to send out our love and commitment to inspiring positive change with this program.  The Holiday Season can be such a source of joy for so many, but also a reminder to some of isolation and loss.

Our program presents music that soothes the soul with peace and reflection but also rejoices and celebrates the best of the season.

Maggie's Wake is a Canadian roots band that combines traditional Celtic instrumentation with a contemporary approach.  This exciting collaboration between Rant Maggie Rant co-founder Lindsay Schindler (fiddle, vocals) and Tara Dunphy (tin whistle, flute, fiddle, vocals), lead singer and songwriter of acclaimed country outfit, The Rizdales, is quite simply, a match made in heaven. 

United in their passion for fiery tunes, soaring vocals with rich harmonies, meaningful stories and beautiful melodies, Lindsay and Tara embrace their wide ranging influences and have built an exciting, new sound. From traditional celtic to cajun, early jazz to latin rhythms, Maggie's Wake is making musical discoveries at every turn, constantly building on the foundation of the music that  inspires them.

A Lunch At Allen’s  Christmas is an enchanting seasonal journey filled with stories, humour and a vast array of superbly-crafted songs – some traditional I’ll Be Home for Christmas, others thought-provoking, Marc’s Sober Up For Christmas, many familiar, like Murray’s Old Tin Star and Ian’s Zuzu’s Petals – creating a bluesy, jazz, pop synergy that warms the heart and soothes the soul. Lunch At Allen’s is a musical powerhouse comprising four internationally renowned Canadian talents: Murray McLauchlan, Cindy Church, Marc Jordan and Ian Thomas. While songs like Murray’s Farmer’s Song, Marc’s Marina Del Rey and Ian’s Painted Ladies form our collective life soundtrack, as individuals, these artists have also penned hits for Bon Jovi, Josh Groban, Chicago, Bonnie Raitt, America, Santana, Cher, Diana Ross and Rod Stewart. Rube & Rake engage audiences with a mixture of stories, intricate guitar work, and rich vocal harmonies. After working together for the past 6 years out of St. John’s, NL, Josh Sandu and Andrew Laite have fused an intimate musical connection that comes across in every new song and performance.

The Nimmons Tribute honours the legacy of Canada’s living jazz legend – The Dean of Canadian jazz – Phil Nimmons O.C., O. Ont. The Nimmons Tribute band features some of Canada’s greatest musicians, many of whom are JUNO Award-winners. The Nimmons Tribute, led by Sean Nimmons-Paterson consists of former students, colleagues, friends, and family, who have come together to celebrate Phil through his music.

RACHAEL KILGOUR

Rachael Kilgour is a Canadian-American songwriter and performing artist whose plain-spoken, heart-centered work and intimate performances have endeared her to listeners and fellow artists alike. The 2015 grand prize winner of the international NewSong Music Competition and winner of the 2017 Kerrville New Folk Contest, Kilgour has been featured at NYC’s Lincoln Center, at The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and at the Sundance Film Festival.

Steven Taetz and friends celebrate the sounds of the season during an evening full of Christmas classics and holiday hits. The crooner and songwriter mixes a cool cocktail of vocal jazz, roots, and soul to each performance, alongside award-winning musicians. JazzTimes Magazine calls Taetz "a unique, arresting talent.” Previous performances include mainstage performances at Waterloo Jazz Festival, Ottawa Bluesfest, National Arts Centre (Ottawa), Capital Pride Washington D.C., L'Astral Theatre (Montreal), Rockwood Music Hall (NYC), and Rochester International Jazz Festival. Friends and family will enjoy this night of festive fun!

Colin Linden’s tale is the stuff of legend, the kind told in the Coen brothers’ O Brother Where Art Thou or Inside Llewyn Davis, both of which featured his guitar playing on the soundtracks. That film would begin with an 11-year-old meeting his musical idol Howlin’ Wolf at a matinee show in his native Toronto, accompanied by his mom, who took a picture of the two during a nearly two-hour long conversation before the gig, the legendary bluesman idling over coffee and cigarettes.

“I’m an old man now, and I won’t be around much longer,” Wolf told him. “It’s up to you to carry it on.”

Linden still carries that frayed photograph in his wallet, along with a Sears 5/8” socket wrench in his pocket to play slide guitar. He has taken Wolf’s plea seriously, performing since he was 12 years old, leaving home as a teenager to travel the south at the invitation of Mississippi Sheiks delta blues guitarist Sam Chatmon which took him to Detroit, Chicago, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Memphis and Hollandale, Mississippi, meeting and visiting the sites of his heroes – Brownie McGhee, Muddy Waters, Sippie Wallace, Tampa Red, Blind John Davis, the Rev. Robert Wilkins, Sleepy John Estes and Son House, visiting the landmarks and juke joints, many of which he’s played in during the course of a 45-year career producing and playing blues and roots music. As a singer/guitarist, he’s accompanied everyone from Bruce Cockburn (as his producer and touring musician) to Bob Dylan, Greg Allman, Rihannon Giddens, Pistol Annies, John Prine and more.

He was the main contributor to the music for the Nashville TV show and subsequent live tours. Along the way, Linden played on over 500 albums and produced 140, including his first-ever actual Grammy in 2020 for producing Keb Mo’s Oklahoma, winner for Best Americana Album. He has also nabbed a staggering 25 Juno Award nominations and nine wins.
